Pediatric First Aid and Pediatric CPR Training Through the ECE PDO at PHMC

The Pennsylvania Office of Child Development and Early Learning, Bureau of Early Learning Policy and Professional Development and Bureau of Certification have released the Announcement C-22-01 Pediatric First Aid and Pediatric Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training Requirements and Access to Free Training through Early Childhood Education Professional Development Organizations (ECE PDOs).

The ECE PDO at PHMC coordinates free training for Pediatric First Aid and Pediatric CPR, based on the prioritization outlined by OCDEL's recent announcement. Programs located in Philadelphia or the Southeast Region (Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties) who have staff that are eligible for training can contact the ECE PDO at PHMC to be connected with an approved training partner.

ECE PDO’s will:  

• Connect you with an approved Pediatric First Aid/CPR training program and offer you flexible training times and locations.  
• Assure approved Pediatric First Aid/CPR trainings are scheduled in the PA Key PD Registry. 
• Coordinate having an approved Pediatric First Aid/CPR trainer come to your location when multiple staff need training.

Participant Eligibility

 

The following identifies current OCDEL scheduling priorities for Pediatric First Aid and Pediatric CPR training: 

1. The facility has received a citation for non-compliance because child care staff do not have Pediatric First Aid and Pediatric CPR training. 
2. Child care staff Pediatric First Aid and Pediatric CPR certificate has expired. 
3. Child care staff newly hired and within their first 90 days of employment have not yet received Pediatric First Aid and Pediatric CPR. 
4. Child care staff Pediatric First Aid and Pediatric CPR certificate isn’t expired but will expire within 1 year of their facility’s certificate of compliance expiration date. 
5. Child care staff that will need Pediatric First Aid and Pediatric CPR training for compliance within 1 year of their facility’s certificate of compliance expiration date.
